In compliance with the cross-cutting objectives of the Girasol Association, we aim to address:
-
SDG 12: Waste reduction and efficient use of resources.
-
SDG 13: Measures to combat climate change.
As specified in the UN 2030 Agenda, which in turn is officially supported by the Spanish government through the 2030 Sustainable Development Strategy.
We are committed to sustainability, recycling, and waste reduction: For this reason, at designated locations, we collect items and belongings that their owners no longer need and that would otherwise become waste—many of them highly polluting.
These items—such as clothing, glassware, metal utensils, plastic items, and other reusable materials—are made available to the community at our premises or distribution points. Anyone interested can take them in exchange for a voluntary donation intended to support the association's goals and activities. (We cannot force people to recycle).
This initiative generates a dual social and environmental benefit: on one hand, it contributes to funding our projects through the collection of donations; on the other, it promotes the reuse of goods, extends their lifespan, and reduces waste generation, fostering a more responsible and sustainable consumption model.
Our Stalls:
-
Alameda Stall: Every Wednesday from 9:15 AM to 1:00 PM at Plaza de la Constitución. (In July, it changes to Tuesdays, and it is closed in August due to severe weather conditions).
-
Mollina Stall: Every Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM, next to the Saydo Hotel.
-
Permanent Stall in Humilladero: Every day from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Located on Calle la Feria, opposite the hardware store.
-
Fuente de Piedra Stalls: Every Monday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Calle Pepín Acuñas, next to the nursery school. Also, at Plaza de la Constitución during the morning at Cristina's language center.
Note: Any of the active recycling points may be closed due to public holidays or severe weather conditions, as many stalls are set up outdoors.
We do not collect trash or broken/damaged items—only those in good condition that can be given a second life.
If you are committed to our causes and would like to collaborate in these spaces, please do not hesitate to become a volunteer.
In this way, we actively contribute to the circular economy, promoting environmentally friendly habits and helping to reduce the ecological impact associated with the waste of materials and resources.
We would like to express our gratitude to all the volunteers committed to Girasol's values and charitable goals, as well as to cross-cutting objectives such as the environment and effective equality. As established by law, they carry out their work on a voluntary (non-monetary) basis. We also thank those who have provided the spaces and premises to carry out this work.
Finally, we remind you that the funds raised from donations at the active recycling points are destined for people with cancer and palliative illnesses, as well as their families. The time and effort that volunteers dedicate to this cause must be deeply valued.
